About the event

Soul Connection Art Journaling classes are a way for you to shed your many hats and sit and do something just for you.

It is a safe place to create and be encouraged.

It is a place to find your own self expression through art.

It is a place to express thoughts, feelings and emotions when the words fail you.

It is a place to be honest and listen to yourself.

It is a place of friendship.

It is a place to go on a journey and not be stuck on the end product.

It is a place to be free of perfection and to go with the flow.

It is a place to learn art skills

This June our prompt is “Pocketful of Kindness”

You will discover what art journaling is and see some examples

You will learn my philosophy for the group

You will get to participate in a quick relaxation to get in the zone

You will learn about all the different supplies you can use to journal, free and bought

You will get access to an ongoing Facebook group

You will get to create something just for you

You will learn skills to be able to then create in your own time.

We don't copy artworks in my classes. My aim is for you to use your own creativity and imagination with the techniques I have taught you. All my classes are suitable for beginners to pros. In so many classes, I have had people who hadn't done art since primary school, and were amazed at what they were able to create. There is no right or wrong, any art goes so please don't feel pressured.

You will need:

Something to art on – a piece of paper, an art journal, an old book

Something to paint with – acrylics or watercolours, a brush and pot of water. Stick to 2-3 colours and black and white.

Something to wipe your brush on

Pens – black and/or white. These can be markers, biros, poscas, sharpies, gel pens.

Coloured pens are optional

Glue – Liquitex matte medium, Modge Podge or a glue stick

We will be making pockets so envelopes or any paper you like the look of. For example, I will be using a leopard print soap wrapper and some pictures from my skeins of wool. It could be a page from a book, a birthday card, wrapping paper.

2 spare pieces of paper. One to write on so not too much print on it, you need to be able to read what you wrote. The other is to wipe the excess paint off your brush so it isn’t wasted in the water. (I’ll explain more in class).

Use whatever you have, don’t feel like you have to go out and buy expensive stuff.

If you have any questions, please get in touch creative.abyss@yahoo.com.au
